just some thoughts about art..

Every few decades has its very own art movement. From Renaissaune to Impressionism, from cubism to pop art, these art movements are significant evidences of the changes of society in the past and how people changed their perspectives of looking at this world. However, we no longer follow any art movement nowadays as everyone is painting whatever they want, whatever they define as art. The defination of art is being blurred and the diversity of styles is growing in an overwhelming manner.

Art used to be an luxury item in the olden days, where only the rich and upper class people could afford it. However nowadays, it seems to have gone thru a evolution that made it so common that we see them almost every day in our lives. Olden art needs a lot of time and effort while modern arts can be done just by a few clicking of mouse in a few minutes. Would art become meaningless in few years later when we became more concern about technology (or maybe global warming) than any other stuffs? Or would there even left a single artist who is willing to dedicate his/her life creating artworks in this dog-eat-dog era? It's a fast paced society that we are lived in. I believe still life sculptures or 2 dimentioanl canvas paintings can no longer capture the eyes of people that easily anymore. Would that mean there will be a rise of performing art or digital art in the near future?

I started to feel that Art should not be made one of the optional subjects in school. Instead, we should have art lesson at least once a fortnight like Civics and Moral in every classes at every levels because i find appreciating art is generally quite important. It allows people to think with our imagination and understading the past/current events or trends through artworks created around the world.
